JOHN’S STORY

On March 13, 2020, Sgt. Mattingly garnered national attention when he sustained a gunshot during the execution of a search warrant at the residence of Breonna Taylor. The subsequent events, marked by widespread protests, a murder for hire plot against his family, and global scrutiny, were further intensified by the subsequent death of George Floyd.

Recognizing the importance of transparency, John responded by authoring the nationally bestselling book, “12 Seconds in the Dark.” This compelling work serves to dispel misconceptions surrounding the events, contributing to a more accurate understanding of the circumstances.
